Acqua Salon has been owned and operated under Pina Marfisi since 1997. With a successful career in the industry, Pina has created a booming salon, filled with highly educated staff, under her direction.
She began her education at Marvel School in Toronto, graduating in 1982. She apprenticed for one year on Yonge and Eglington in Toronto and returned to Guelph to begin her career at Friends Hair Designers. She has studied her art all over North America and Europe. Including Vidal Sassoon in the U.K., Toronto, and L.A., Toni and Guy in Toronto, Martin Parsons in Toronto and Guelph, at the Aveda Institute in New York, Toronto and Minneapolis, the Sanrizz Academy in London, England, and Trevor Sorbie in Toronto. Her platform work has brought her to Vincenza,Italy, Kingston, Brockville and Toronto. She has competed in Toronto, Fort Lauderdale, London and Kitchener, placing 1st in London and 2nd in Kitchener.
Her passion for competition in hair has brought her to follow a career in the Master Judges Panel of Canada. She received her Silver Medal in judging in Victoria, British Columbia, her Gold in Toronto and her Platinum Lifetime Achievement Crystal in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
She has travelled to many hairstyling and beauty shows and conventions including the ABA’s in many Canadian cities, New York, Cosmoprof in Bologna,Italy, Beauty International in Dusseldorf, Germany, Miami, Barcelona,Spain, and the Alternative Hairshow. Her participation and avid outreach in the community is extensive, and she continues to search for ways to give back. She trained and completed an apprenticeship with us as well as attended George Brown College. She has taken numerous courses to further her knowledge in all aspects of the industry. She has trained with the Aveda Institute extensively taking many courses. Legendary classics with Tristan Morrison, Technical Texture with Hans Korpela, Bridal Makeup with Anna Conte, Men's cutting with Gina Derry, Editorial styling with Tony Masciangelo and Frank Rizzieri as well as many Aveda Colour courses and seasonal collection updates.
Julie also served as the In-salon cutting coach for Acqua in which she trained with Tristan Morrison on how to educate her fellow staff members and infuse them with the knowledge she obtained at her Aveda course training. Julie is also well versed in the world of upstyles and formal hairdressing and trained with Martin Parsons.
Julie has competed in the Allied Beauty Association's annual competitions at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in both Men's and Women's Professional Cut and Style. She placed third in the Junior Competition at the Hairdressing Guild. Julie is a key member of Acqua Salon. Lisa has been a member of staff at Acqua since 2002. She was trained at the Voila Institute of Hair Design.
Lisa is very active in furthering her education and has participated in many courses with Aveda and other successful hair companies. She has taken Aveda experience: Hair, skin and makeup, Cutting Pure-form with Hans Korpela, Men's master cutting with Gina Derry, Legendary classics with Tristan Morrison, The ABC's with Vidal Sassoon, Advanced Cutting with Cecelia Leatherberry, Aveda Hair Colour Systems and Solutions, Aveda Hair Colour Customization, Abstract Colour with Ana Karzis, Wella Advanced Colour Placement, Editorial Styling with Tony Masicangelo, Upstyles with Martin Parsons, as well as Aveda Face to Face Makeup and Advanced Makeup with Rudy Miles.
Lisa has competed in The Allied Beauty Association's Women's Professional Makeup competition in Toronto. Lisa is an active participant in all of Acqua's community involvement and fundraising initiatives, always a great supporter and helping hand. She is a dedicated stylist and great staff member. Grace has been with us since 2002, completing her apprenticeship at Acqua following her educational beginnings at the Guelph College of Hair and Esthetics.
Grace has trained with Tristan Morrison of Aveda at Acqua Salon in private classes as well as many Aveda colour courses and continuously updates her knowledge of product yearly.
Grace also did Basic Makeup training the Guelph College and has participated in Allied Beauty Association's Women' Professional Makeup Competition.
Grace is a enthusiastic supporter or all of Acqua's community and fundraising events and is a delightful addition to our team. Brianna has been a member of staff at Acqua since 2002. She did a full apprenticeship with us following a Co-op placement through Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute.
Brianna has trained with Tristan Morrison of Aveda at Acqua Salon learning Legendary Classics, as well as the ABC's at Vidal Sassoon in Toronto, many Aveda colour courses, and Upstyles with Martin Parsons. She also attended the Redken Symposium in Las Vegas and participated in 3 courses in editorial styling, makeovers, and colour.
Brianna is an active competitor in the Allied Beauty Association's annual Toronto Show and has competed in Men's and Women's Professional Cutting Competitions as well as the Women's Professional Makeup Competitions for the past few years.
Brianna placed first in the ABA's Women's Makeup in Toronto in 2007 and was then invited to participate in the 2008 International Makeup Competition in Dusseldorf, Germany. She again won first place representing Canada, against 15 representatives from 15 countries. Brianna has attended many international beauty events including the Alternative Hair Show in London, England, and Cosmoprof in Bologna, Italy.
Brianna has been involved in some local editorial work, including an article and fashion shoot for Guelph Life magazine. She is very involved in the organizing of Acqua's fundraising events and really enjoys designing new ideas for promotions and activities. She is very dedicated to her clients and takes great pride in her work. Nikki is another hard working Acqua girl who trained with us and did a full apprenticeship at the salon.

Nikki is a grand believer in giving back to the community. Anne started her career at Acqua in 2005. She has also done a full apprenticeship and training at Acqua.
Anne has trained with Tristan Morrison of Aveda in cutting, as well as attended the American Crew Men's cutting course and is fully educated in Aveda colour. Anne attends the ABA's every year and really enjoys researching new looks and trends.
Anne is always there to lend a hand for any of our events and is a great supporter of all of Acqua's causes. She is talented stylist and great employee. Melissa has been at Acqua since 2004. She completed her apprencticeship at Eden salon before she joined our team.
She has attended many courses throughout her career including Eufora razor cutting in San Diego, California, Toni and Guy Cut and Colour in New York City, Schwarzkopf colour classes, Cutting with Tristan Morrison and many Aveda product knowledge and colour courses. She competed in the Toronto ABA Women's evening fashion makeup competition.
Melissa participates in Acqua's community events and fundraisers. Laura has been at Acqua since 2006.
She came to us with a degree in Cosmetic Techniques and Management from Seneca College, and has done a full apprenticeship with us. She has been educated in the Aveda world of products and colour courses, as well as the Full Spectrum Deep colour course.
Laura is always there and gives her all to any Acqua event.
Ginger is a great addition to our team. Teija has been with us since 2008 and began her apprenticeship at Salon 160 before coming to begin her career at Acqua.
She is trained with Aveda product and colour and recently participated in the 2009 Men's Avant Garde cutting competition at the Toronto ABA's.
Teija is great employee and a delight to be around. Brooke has been in the beauty industry since 1996. She worked at Acqua in the past and is now back to join our team.
Brooke has attended numerous cutting and colouring courses throughout her career and has attended many ABA shows over the years.
Brooke specializes in Men's cutting and says " I love my job, I get to make people beautiful all day!" Jen came to us as a graduate of the Voila Institute of Hair Design and has been apprenticing with us since 2008. She has taken the Aveda Full Spectrum Deep Colour Course and is a Certified Makeup Artist.
She has attended the Toronto ABA's and enjoys her new career with Acqua Salon. Timm is currently apprenticing with us. Steve is currently our manager at Acqua and he also is educated in makeup.
He has attended Makeup revolution with Rudy Miles at Aveda and Bridal Makeup with Aveda. He enjoys applying makeup and is really talented at eyebrow shaping.
Steve has educated himself at the Toronto ABA's in Salon Management. He has been with us since 2004.
